The next chapter in the great Fifth Frontier War goes live this week - Consular Envoy!
Consular Envoy is set far from the main theatres of the Fifth Frontier War, in the so-called Outrim Void on the fringe of the Third Imperium’s most distant territory. It is here that the Zhodani hope to open up a new front against the Imperium by acquiring allies and directing them against the Imperials. Neither side has much in the way of resources to spare for use in the region, but just one ship might take dozens of enemy vessels out of the main conflict if it successfully completes its mission.

That ship is a diplomatic transport vessel, a repurposed destroyer carrying an envoy empowered to speak for the Consulate and negotiate agreements on its behalf. Her mission is peripheral but significant as part of a typically Zhodani ‘actions of many’ strategy. The philosophy behind this is that many scattered crews and individuals, though they have no way of knowing whether others are still trying, will do their utmost and by separate actions bring about victory.

This adventure may give Travellers a chance to look at Imperial and other societies from the outside, through the lens of people used to a very different way of life. It is possible the Travellers will notice that every society seems to have a means of population control – Imperial consumerism, the mind-controlling drugs of Senlis and the near-religious indoctrination of Belgard can all be compared to the re-education process used by the Consulate. Which is the most or least ethical is a question for the Travellers to ponder...
