After having hidden for a thousand years after the last Great War, the Shadows are back, aliens so ancient they predate the evolution of Man and every other major race in the galaxy.
The implacable enemies of the Vorlons, both ancients have enlisted the help of various races for the next Great War that is now inevitable. The Shadows themselves, though rarely seen in open battle, possess a level of technology that far outstrips that of the young races. Their deadly ships can fade in and out of hyperspace at will while their high energy weapons can literally slice an enemy ship in half. It takes a great deal of bravery and firepower to take on a Shadow fleet with any hope of victory.
The Shadow fleet is perfect for the player who is looking for ships that are unsurpassed on a technological level and who also fancies playing something a bit 'different'. You will never have a huge variety of ships to choose from and nor will you be able to field many on the battlefield - in fact, you will always be outnumbered. However, the sheer power of the Shadows is usually its own reward.
